I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where I won the university’s highest award in the literary arts for my creative work. My plays were first staged on the Berkeley campus and later produced Off-Off Broadway in New York City and throughout the Bay Area. My short fiction has appeared in the Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine and on Gizmodo. I'm a writer and editor by profession, and I now live in Los Angeles with my boyfriend/ in-house art director and our dog.

A highlight: I once couriered 80 live sea urchins from Newport Beach to Berlin for a research study on urchin genetics. (Did you know that the Pacific purple sea urchin has a fully sequenced genome, making it an ideal candidate for this type of study – a study that could unearth the secrets of biological inheritance, that could reveal the encoded mysteries of life? Anyway.) All of the urchins survived the trip, their DNA was sampled without complication, and most of them are probably still enjoying life on the continent as I type this.
